I can see you have been influenced by some scary ideas. I have another way to look at sleep that might serve you better.

When you sleep, deeper parts of yourself review your physical world. This is a therapeutic and refreshing time for your body and spirit. The non-physical part of you that persists beyond death is dealing with conflicts and seeking growth. It is always a part of you even as you read this. In the dream world, your consciousness is not interacting with your physical body (except parts of your brain). The dream world is very much like "being dead" or non-physically focused. So you don't die, you just associate with the part of you that persists beyond physical death.

If your belief system requires God's will to make decisions, then yes, you wake up to do his will.

HI dear,if u r not going to be scared , I would like to answer ur q. Not only in sleep & on awaking but every nano-moment we die.Just get known theory & structure of "Atom" Everything, absolutely everything is made up of "Atom",including of our body & mind too. Mind is also a solid matter though we r unable to c it.& what is Atom? It is very very tiny particle of five fundamental natural elements called as "Punchmahabhutas" & It is borned/come up ,remains & vanishes. This process is so fast that we c ourselves & the world as solid. But nothing is solid that way.So since we r made up of "Atom",we r dieing every nano-moment. Still we r alive So we need not bother abt. the death. Live life with full enthusiasum & with sense of gratitude towards "Nature"or The God" what u say & trust as!! While doing good things always remember that we r dieing & there is not much time left. While doing bad things think long life still lying before us & will do it later.!! I hope my ans.will give all my friends (repliers 2 this Q) lot of COURAGE TO LIVE HAPPILY !!! "MANGALHO "

No...our human vehicles do not work this way...from the moment a body dies, it shuts down all function and begins to decay (rigormortis). We may feel a bit stiff in the a.m. sometimes, but it is certainly not due to this process. LOL

When we are in deep sleep, however, it is the opportunity for the subconscious to separate from the conscious...our spirit Self can be free of the density it must surround itself in to live in this time & place...at the same time, it provides the necessary time for our vehicles to recharge & heal.

no, we don't really die,but i may say sleeping is an example of death in that your mind is at rest and you've got nothing to wary about.i agree waking up from your sleep is by the grace of God,think about people who die while'st sleeping!.

No, not at all. When we sleep we stay alive - your heart keeps beating and your brain keeps functioning.

Before people understood sleep, possibly thousands of years ago, then maybe they thought that sleep was a death-like period before a god revived them, but it's clearly wrong.

Even philosophically, it has nothing meaningful to offer.
