Make cuts in junk food, keep the air conditioner around 80, don't drive as much on days off, don't waste $1.15 on one soda, rent movies instead of the theatre, buy clothes from Ross and TJ Maxx instead of the mall, turn off your cable, have a garage sale and pocket the money for gas, sell the SUV and buy a 4 cylinder, don't buy such a big house, say "no" to your kids more often, buy chicken instead of beef, drink gallons of water instead of individual bottles ... this could keep going on until you get the point. The price is actually very nominal if you consider all that stuff you spend money on outside of fuel costs that can have a greater impact on saving you money.

There is a current campaign going on through the internet where people are agreeing to not buy gas on May 15 to make a real big dent in oil companies..... Why not join the effort and pass it on to friends and family and boycott gasoline stations on May 15?

Compared to most of the world, we've got it pretty good. But join the gas boycott on May 15th, see what that does. Or buy a bike.

Oh so true. gas has become so high I have opted to take public transportation to work. But the fare has even become expensive due to the fact that gas has skyrocketed. its becoming a no win situation. Imagine if you were only making minimum wage. You would only be working for gas to go to work. Thats sad.

if it contunues wages will have to increase. basically whats happening in my community is that businesses are raising the costs of their product due to the gas price increase. it effects the bottom line for everyone and in the long run nobody will be able to afford anything so the economy will fall. theres a visious circle and gas is a huge part of it.

It's like that all over. Do you know what makes me laugh?? When here in Canada they say they have been looking for evidence of "price gouging at the
pumps and can't find any". What a joke. My husband told me that was going on
in the 30's and 40's when he worked for his Dad at the service station.

My b/f and I drive big 4x4 pickup trucks, Ive only got $1,000 left to pay on mine, his is paid off, we live back a mile long lane, and we have to haul wood for our stove, for some people its just not possible!!!! We dont gripe about gas prices, cool it people, you just keep drivin your little cars, theres nothin some of us can do about!

That's easy, you give up luxuries like food and shelter. *tongue in cheek*
Seriously though, that is what it amounts to for many of us. Most of the folks I work with have long commutes and many of them as saying they are having to take extra days off to save on the gas expense. I'm thinking no one is taking sick days cuz they are sick, just sick of gas prices.
Good luck, HTH

Maybe you should lose the suv and get a fuel efficient vehicle, or even lose the handguns and make america safe enough to walk places, fight global warming and the waistline at the same time.
