Yes, I believe this phenomona exists. Many of the cultures in antiquity have reported seeing this winged creature. The book "Mothman Prophesies" is based on the Point Pleasant Bridge disaster in 1965 on the Ohio river in the state of West Virginia. The book was written by John Keel who lives here in New York.

What I find most interesting about these sightings of this winged creature is the number of people who witnessed it. Also at the time of the sightings, we had one of the largest UFO flaps going on. This occurred in the years from 1965 to 1967. Another interesting fact concerning West Virginia is that non of the pre-colombian native Americans ever settled this area! For some reason according to these indiginous people, there was something mystical or mysterious that negated them from ever settling into the area!

Some Cryptozoologist and UFO researchers think that this Mothman phenomona might be an extraterrestrial or interdimmensional bleed through into our reality. Very much like the demonic intercessions that accompanies possession. This has been recorded in exorcisms through the centuries by the Roman Catholic Church. UFO researchers have hypothesized that this might be an terrestrial/extraterrestrial crossover and that at times there is an interplay between both realities. Many witnesses have stated that the Mothman has reptilian features or have communicated with certain contactees or abductees that they are from the Draconian star systems.

Please read John Keel's book and get a better understanding of this phenomona. As an aside, I have a friend who is a friend of Mr. Keel. He told me that Mr. Keel is somewhat eccentric and will not talk about the UFO phenomona whatsoever. Interesting?

While I have never seen the movie, I have read actual reports of people who have actually seen mothman, as well as heard people call the late-night talk radio program "Coast to Coast AM", claiming to have encountered Mothman and in my opinion, thousands of sightings of the same creature cannot be hoaxed.

Its evolutionary, biologically and physically impossible for mothman existence in real life.

First of all, there are no linkage through history that are connected to mothman evolutionary ancestors.

Secondly, the biological aspect of mothman size and the size of the wing makes it impossible for it to take flight, other biological conditions does not add up at all according to the habitat, social surrounding and reproduction process.

Thirdly, sighting of mothman ended around 1960's, only until the movie came out, people started "seeing" mothman. And the fact that no mothman have ever been reported in pair of two or more. And how can mothman elude millions of people searching for it and elude the most advance surveillance system???

There are a much higher chance of unicorn and a Bigfoot living in real life than the chance of mothman being real.

Yes I do. I got this really scary picture on my phone. I didn't take it, but it looks like the Shadow of a mothman, and something else is next to it that has horns on it's head. The two seems to be looking down onto a grave of some sort, it's a real creepy picture, and I don't like looking at it. I did save it though,I don't know why I did. Bye

Who's to say there is or isn't? None of us can. I believe in the existence of cryptozoological creatures, we are still finding animals in the wild and fish in the ocean that we have never seen before. So doesn't logic dictate that it is possible? I am a paranormal investigator and I have seen things that I can't immediately explain away. Having a closed mind in this day and age could be detrimental.

Yes, there's undoubtedly a special effects costume somewhere out there just like the Big Foot. This is why they sell mothballs because he doesn't have the nerve to show up at the cleaners. I've seen some weird stuff in my life, but it usually is special effects somehow anyway.
