Increasingly, video games are being aimed at and played by adults. Indeed, it has long been the consensus among the gaming community - although I can't verify this claim - that more adults than children use consoles such as the Xbox. This is why many in Australia get so annoyed about the lack of an R18+ rating here (which effectively means that any game that is deemed to be only playable by over-18s is "denied classification" and cannot be sold).
And as for why - it's fun, it takes the mind off the more mundane issues in life, you can interact with friends and live out your fantasies... adults play video games for exactly the same reasons as they watch movies.

Because when I was 21, there were no video games and now I make up for what I could not enjoy then!

thats kind of a stupid question if you think about it. Adults over the age of 21 make the games. do you not think that the adults over 21 that make the games make the games think "i would never play this game this is just for little kids" or do you think they would make something they would actualy play. second, most games made nowadays are not intended for "Kids" I dont know many "Kids" that can play games like Everquest PC, armored core, Halo. And i sure as hell would not let my kids play games like Grand theift auto, or diablo II, Doom, Heretic, Playboy Mansion, Leisure Suit Larry.
I wish ignorant morons would think and use their walnut sized brain and think b4 they ask dumbass questions like this

Probably because they don't have anything else to do with there life. Like I still play video games and I'm 26.

For the same reason people over 21 will go to see a Disney film; they enjoy the activity.

me spending 15bucks on a video game probably saves me about 400-500bucks cuz im stayin home not out spending money
