I have a 97 T&C 3.8L, my problem is when im driving all of a sudden the engine would cut and I would have to wait for it to cool to keep going. Dash shows that the engine isnt overheating, and the temp senser is fairly new. Power is running to other parts of the car so I know its not a battery\power issue. And thats all i can really think of, any ideas folks? not sure if its a tranny issue or engine issue

Okay update: OBD 2 gave me an error code of p1391 (P1391 Intermittent Loss of CMP or CKP) i have replaced the cam sensor not to long ago, any other ideas folks?

Check you trouble codes. If there are none, then check the ignition pickup, and the ignition coil. These are not monitored by the computer, and often cause the intermittent shut down of the engine, especially after it's warmed up.

Chrysler has had a history of Transmission issues in these vans, but this doesn't sound transmission related. It sounds like an ignition issue more than anything. You will first need to make sure that the vehicle has spark and fuel, but you will need for the vehicle to be dead before you can check it. The 3.8L is a pretty good engine, and we don't see too many problems with them. Is the check engine light on? My guess is that it's going to require an ignition coil or module.

I would say it's in your ignition box on the fender well, if your vehicle will start and go after cooling, good indication, it happened to me. Took ignition box off and there was a burnt spot on the back, changed it no problem, it acts like a coil did when it went bad before there was ignition boxes.

THE FAULT CODE TELLS YOU THAT YOU STILL HAVE A BAD SENSOR. BY CHANGING ONE SENSOR, YOU HAD A 50-50 CHANCE OF REPLACING THE RIGHT ONE. NOW REPLACE THE OTHER AND DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO ERASE THE CODE. IF IT COMES BACK AGAIN, YOU HAVE A WIRING ISSUE OR A ENGINE CONTROLLER PROBLEM. BUT FOLLOW THE CODES. THAT'S WHAT THERE THERE FOR.

2 mst likely suspects are fuel pump or crank senser getting hot and cutting out . if tou scan for codes will probably find out witch lean o2 codes fuel pump loss of crank signal or loss f crank cam synch. code then crank senser . no codes then when it dies check for spark and fuel pressure. repair the one that is not there. btw. ecm controls spark there is no ignition module

YOUR CAM SENS IS GOOD THAT MENES THAT YOUR CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS BAD HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THAT TO GOOD LUCK
