I dont think other characteristics of autism are as bad as social disinterest, where autistic children usually dont engage social contact with parents, are not interested in making friends etc.
Seems that by accessing Yahoo! answers, you are interested in the opinions of other people, and perhaps have a normal functioning social life.
If so, don't worry if you've got other signs of autism if you're functioning well.

Autism is actually a "spectrum disorder". There are a lot of different criteria that go into being autistic, and not everybody who is autistic matches all of those criteria. Nonetheless, the criteria is very well defined. If you happen to match most of it, chances are that you are, indeed, autistic. You might also want to look into Asperger Syndrome, which may or may not fit you well.
As for your rhetorical question about how bad it can be if you can recognize it, I've met, online, many many autistics who are severely affected both socially and economically by their autism, and I have met others who have found a very good social and economic nitch for themselves. (I'm not autistic, but because of my personal explorations about myself, I spent a great deal of time and energy for several months learning about autism and the autistic spectrum of conditions.) If it truly doesn't effect you that much, then probably the best thing you can do is to take the knowledge you've gained and figure out how to apply it to your life now.

We are all autistic ! But in most people it is so mild that it can't be seen. There is a thing called the autistic spectrum, which rates the levels autism in people. For starters take Aspergers - this can range from mild ticks to autism so bad that the person does not talk or has any contact with the world around he or she.
As for behaviour, again this comes in many forms from mild to full blown compulsive behaviour.
If you are worried in anyway speak to your doctor and I would suggest you look up a person called Tony Attwoood. Hope this works

I teach autistic children. Autism covers such a huge range, that diagnosis from a professional is the only way to get an answer. However, please get more than one opinion, this is vital, as it is relatively hard to diagnose. You know what....I believe we all have 'autistic' tendencies, in minor forms, and seeing you have progressed through school without it being picked up, surely it cant be of a major concern.....seek advise if you are concerned.

Austism is a 'syndrome'; that means that there are a bunch of symptoms that indicate it, but not any one that confirms autism. So you could have a few of the symptoms but not enough for a doctor to diagnose it.
Many people, if reading the symptoms, will recognise things they do themselves. This is normal. Autism is when those normal quirks become so severe the person has trouble functioning.

Yes, it is, sort of .... there is a form of Autism called "Aspergers Syndrome" where people with it are very high functioning and intelligent, but have social and other difficulties.
HOWEVER, rather than self-diagnosing, do get a referral from your doctor for a counselor or psychologist, who can help you pinpoint what your symptoms point to. It is Psychologists who generally diagnose the Autism Spectrum.

Ive apparently got asperger's. I didn't want to believe it when i was younger because its a type of autism. but i read up on it and it suited me very well...and really it doesn't make me look bad or anything, I'm still my own person. Einstein had it to apparently.
See the docter if you want to get it diagnosed. but i wouldn't worry about it, theres a million things you can be diagnosed for that really are not a worry much at all. there still coming up with new names for things. Eventually personalitys will be broken down so much everyone will end up being diognosed for a collection of things, hehe.

It skill which you're probable (that is not assured) going to war with understand-how right here (it varies among persons): one million. Eye touch-they could make it for too long or none in any respect. 2. Facial expressions-they oftentimes war with making use of them and with analyzing them. 3. physique language-same as above. 4. Gestures-same as above. 5. Tone-they could have a run of the mill voice and that they could war with understand-how a ton. 6. Social regulations-they could war with understanding what's suited, a thank you to act, a thank you to hold a communique, a thank you to attitude somebody. 7. stress-stress is a undemanding difficulty among those with Autism, yet i've got self assurance that it quite is a separate difficulty (do not quote me in this one). Autistic persons oftentimes relish social interactions, yet they combat with them. Speech scientific care could be a extensive help in this subject.

Well, if you are wondering about your condition. You should get a clinical evaluation about your condition. To be hones I don't believe you may be autistic. The answer to you questions are there. Don't cover them with mental illness. Seek the truth, have no fear, embrace your reality. You shall conquer.
