I feel if one has true sorrow and remorse for all of the bad things they have done in their lifetime, they care be truly forgiven. However, I think that there are a few unforgivable sins.

Yes as God has already forgiven me for everything bad I've done. You first of all have to be genuinely sorry. I also believe in forgiving others and to never hold a grudge.

I have given thought to this question many times. A person can commit murder and mayhem many times over in his life, be sentenced to death, and a priest can absolve him of all he has done? Something seems wrong there.

No. Not everyone we have wronged will be willing or able to forgive us. What we can do is seek forgiveness when possible, and move on to not repeat our transgressions in the future.
