Heey,
Talking to one of my ex's and he said his girlfriend was pregnant with quads {not impossible}.
Anyways she was 16 weeks pregnancy and her babies were born. He is trying to tell me that the hospital has intubated the babies and they have a 50/50% survival rate...
What do you think?
I didn't think a doctor would do that to a baby under 23weeks...
Is he lying?]
I think he is!
Take Care

I think they need at least 20 weeks for babies to have a chance for survival and quads would be even SMALLER than single birth babies, so they've got even more odds stacked against them. I've never heard of babies being born that early.

Why would your ex make this up?? Very strange.

Age of viability is 23 weeks (they have saved some 22+ weekers- it is rare). Even at 23 weeks there is less than a 50 % chance of survival. A 16 week delivery is a spontaneous abortion, otherwise known as a miscarriage. He is either sooo lying to you or he is wrong about the gestational age. Because it is a so-called multiple birth, the chances of survival at even 23 weeks is nearly zero.

I doubt it, the babies would be too small and have almost no lung development. They would most likely pass away, too premature. Babies born at 23 weeks dont even have a 50/50 survival rate, let alone nearly 2 months earlier than that. Sounds like a sad lie to me.

There is no way a baby born at 16 weeks could survive. The earliest survival of a preterm infant on record Is little Amellia Taylor (see links below) she was a little past 21 weeks when she was born...

No, the babies would not be able to survive that early, not even with life support. A preemie is not even considered viable until 23 wks. A loss at 16 wks is considered a miscarriage, it's not even considered a stillbirth. Maybe he meant they were 16 wks early? That would have put her at 24 wks when she delivered.

At 16 weeks, unfortunately, there is a 0% survival rate. He is LYING.
