It's not that common, but it's not unheard of among kids and adults. These spiders find warm space inside your ears and also ear wax to feed on. So keeping clean, good hygiene should be enough to avoid this kind of problem. It's not something I would worry about.

I sure did! The boy had 'clicking' sounds in his ear, and doctor said the two spiders were crawling on his eardrum. I heard no further details.
How to keep it from happening? How about earmuffs?

I've never heard of spiders crawling into ears.
BUT have heard of them crawling in your mouth.
Did you know you swallow 2-3 spiders @ least during your lifetime... that's what ive heard.
:) dont get 2 worked up about it.
