The republicans have promised Cheny the presidency, thus they stab Bush in the back all the time. So at the start of 2008, Cheney will be Pres. Pallosi will be V. Pres, and we will have a Republican Pres, and a Democrat Vice Pres.
Then the Republicans will not put any real challenge to H. Clinton to become the next elected pres.

I agree that Bush is a man who will stand strong to the last minute. But, what is often ignored is that He is a believer in the American Government, and when he realizes he is ineffective, he will step down.

Cheney will take the presidency, and will get cooperation from the democrats and republicans for most of the year.

I rechecked the US Constitution. It only covers the conditions of removal of both President and VP. It does not detail what happens when a VP goes up to P.

While your civics clarification was welcomed, bear in mind, you version, even if true, would be the wrong way. The people invest themselves into the presidential elections, hoping to effect the outcome.

The people should be able to expect the standard norms to prevail. The Pres is the C in C. In the military there is a system that says that when the Man in Charge can nolonger carry the role, the Second, then the third, and so on, should take over.

This should be made Constitutional. And it will be.

I am surpised that so many think I hate bush, I am just pointing out what seems to be going on, if you watch the political games that are going on.

I actually like Bush generally, I am just sorry that his own party keeps stabbing him in the back, and then cause him to be the one to take the blame of the Republican Party's continuing failures.

Well first, why would Bush resign?

Second, why would the Republicans make a Democrat Vice President ?

If Cheney resigned today, that doesn't make Pelosi the Vice President.

Bush would nominate someone to be VP, and the Senate would confirm them.

You got a little mixed up on how things work.

You were mixing what would happen if both the President and VP were both unable to continue at the same time, only then would the Speaker of the House, assume the Presidency.

Otherwise, the President just nominates a new VP.

First off he won't be resigning. He will be right there in office until the end of his term. Secondly, to entertain you a little here, even of he did resign there is no way Pelosi would end up as VP while the Republicans are in office. A little Civics lesson here people. Yes, the Speaker of the House is 3rd in order of succession IF both the Pres and VP cannot perform their functions - Thats does not mean they move up the ladder if one or the other leaves office. If a President leaves office and the VP is promoted or if the VP leaves office a new VP will be nominated and must be approved by Congress. With that being said do you really think the Republicans would nominate Pelosi?

This sounds as improbable as some of the "LOST" episodes. The idea that this most stubborn of men will leave office in disgrace and that the "Repubi-cants" would make a deal with the democrats is absurd on it's face. I do like the sound of it all except the part about Cheney, but I do give it a two big thumbs up for originality.

Wrong, he wouldn't take it on a silver platter.

Ha! Hell would freeze over before that would happen.

Yea. You'd like that.

Unlike some people in government, Bush isn't a quitter. He won't resign.
I hope your enjoying your vacation away from reality and rational thought.

No chance of that. The republican cannot remove Bush, it would take both houses of congress. How would Cheney pick Palosi for vice president?

The rumor is something of the opposite. It is being speculated that when Cheney goes into the hospital for his routine pace-maker adjustment that he will step down – allowing Bush to appoint Fred Thompson as VP – which will give him an advantage in the 2008 Presidential election. I don’t buy it because I can’t see Cheney giving up the power he has, but it is a clever thought.

You are wrong. He will not resign and there is no one in the Executive Branch that would be so irresponsible as to open the door for Nancy Pelosi to become Vice President. That isn't sexist either. If it were Elizabeth Dole, Condi Rice or Ann Coulter, I'd be delighted!

The 12th of never. He will leave office after the next election, but resign? I think not.
