Get directions to Nogales, AZ. From there cross the border and you have a 12 hour drive, straight down highway 15 to Mazatlan.

Go south, young man! LOL - stay tuned I will return in una momento! Go to the US/Mexico border at Nogales, go through Customs and Immigration and beatle down the Toll Road (Cuoto) 15D - excellent highway. Make sure you leave early in the morning - 8:00 AM. You can stop overnight at Cuidad Obregon, about the half-way point to Mazatlan. The next morning you to Mazatlan, staying on the same highway. If you leave at 8:00 in the AM you will likely arrive in Maz by 4:00 in the afternoon. Good driving! Tolls end up costing about $60 USA (2 years ago). Make sure you have lots of pesos. you are probably better off flying there the price of gas is sooo high that it will cost you more to drive and you have to pay taxes on your car in mex if you plan on driving it for a long period of time there the highway checkpoints are lined with cars that were confinscated from american toutists.

realize that it costs about 60 cents per mile to drive a car. that's not including hotels and food on the way and other stuff. flying would be a much better option.
