Not oscars, cichlids and such. I fishkeep (and want to fishkeep) zebra danios, dwarf gouramis, cherry barbs, and serpae tetra. I feed them TetraColor flakes and Hikari micro wafers, and the occasional bloodworm. If there's anything better, what would you recommend? It is said aquarists need to have a varity of fish foods in order for their fishies to be the best in status.

I think you have very good staple foods for your fish. You can always add more special foods like the bloodworms you feed now. Try things like daphnia, blackworms, and brine shrimp. Since it's warmer weather now it's easy to raise some mosquito larvae that your fish would really enjoy too.

The main reason you get so many conflicting answers is because the real answer is sometimes and maybe. It's like mixing cats and dogs... do they get along? Sometimes...maybe... if... the same is true for fish. There are some general guidelines and one's that almost always do fine together, but there is always the exception to the rule as well. Generally speaking most all tetras and livebearers will to fine together. The gouramis can be a bit aggressive at times and especially towards smaller fish such as neons. Glassfish do well with pretty much anything that doesn't pick on them and as for catfish, they run the full range from cory cats that wouldn't bother anybody to 6 foot monsters that would call most other fish food. Angels don't mix well with really small fish like neons. They aren't highly aggressive, but will eat anything they can fit in their mouths. Snails make good cleaners for most tanks, as do cory catfish even though they won't help with algae. Basically stick with fish labeled in the shop as community fish but be aware that there can be an ill tempered jerk in any crowd, even peaceful fish. MM

It sounds like you have it pretty well covered. I have heard good thinks about the Omega color fish flakes too, but the TetraColor works well too. You could try brine (or mysis) shrimp every once in a while, those are good for your fish also.

Those are very good foods. I would set up a schedule so you know when to feed what. For example, mine says:
Flakes:Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday.
Freeze-Dried Krill:Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

This helps me to remember when to give what. I would suggest giving your fish the bloodworms once a week, maybe twice a week occasionally.

A good diet for them, all I would try is some frozen brine shrimp for them now and then as well.

TetraColor is very balanced, and good to keep color.
