In your opinion why is Walt Disney World the happiest place on Earth and "magical" like everyone says?

I think it is whatever you make of it! I enjoy going there (i do every year and went twice last year) because I can act like a kid, forget my problems and just have fun!

Where else can you be sitting down to dinner and have Winnie the Pooh and Tigger come right to your table to say, "HI"?

Much of it is marketing, but it is also whatever you make of it. (I have often seen children crying and couples fighting there so I don't think that they were happy at the moment!) You have to go knowing that there will be crowds, you won't get to see and do everything, so just enjoy whatever you do get to see!

It's an escape from reality for a lot of people. It's stories that you listened to as a little child "coming to life." Kids used to grow up with Peter Pan, Snow White, Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, Cinderella, etc. Then they could go to Disneyland or Walt Disney World and actually put themselves in the middle of those stories through the "magic" of the theme park.

The other reason is the Cast Members. I began my career at Disney World during what I believe to be the true Golden Age of Disney: in the mid-80's. I poured my heart and soul into what I did in order to make the guest's experience as magical as it could be. As a stockholder, I wanted to make sure that when they came down and spent thousands of dollars on a week at Disney, they had SUCH a good time that they'd want to do it again next year.

I think that under Bob Iger, we're going to find that Disney enjoys another new Golden Age. I'm hoping so.

Disney is a form of escapism. When you walk onto the property, you essentially give yourself into the magic that is Disney. The cast members treat you like royalty and the place simply plays off of the very things that we all wished for as a kid. We all wanted to beleive in magic and that simply wishing on a start can make dreams come true. Yes, you can be a kid again but also you can be yourself as an adult. Life's just good when it's filled with the magic of Disney.

I agree, Disney World is the most magical place on earth! It's a place where fairytales come to life, a place where your imagination is limitless, and a place where you can experience your favorite childhood stories, explore world countries, take a safari, and become a movie star for a day! It's just such a great experience. I've loved it since my first visit when I was only 5 years old. Twenty-plus years later, I still love it!

I think because of it's optimism and the way it focuses entirely on human potential and what can be done when we work together. For example in the Carousel of Progress, it takes you through the 20th Century which was one of the most war torn of them all but it ignores all that completely and focuses entirely on the progress we made. I love that you can go somewhere that is eternally optimistic for the future and can see the good in the world. I also think it's magical because there are no bounds to the possibilities there. If you want to go into space, get on spaceship earth, if you want to go under the sea, go to the living seas, if you want to see the world, go to the world showcase. A quote you sometimes see around disneyworld is, 'if you can imagine it, you can do it' and that's true there. Anywhere you can go in your imagination, you can go for 'real' in disneyworld. Also, everything that the people above said too!

You either are a Disney person or not. I would live there if I could! Other people who have passed thru my life could have cared less if they ever went there. And that's fine.....to me it's their loss.
I find it such a happy place where all is well and everyone is good (except characters who are a little bad). I think you have to have a certain way of looking at things.........I don't care if it's hot or there's a line...............Just reading the list of questions relating to Disney World makes me want to book a trip! I know I am not answering your question - but maybe it can't truly be answered......................

Everything is so nearly perfect. The cast members, the landscaping, the architecture. It is so clean. Rides are more than rides. They are experiences. Even as you wait in line you are being incorporated into the experience. The way they pipe in the sounds of crickets and the smell of pine trees at Wilderness lodge. The attention to detail. The things you don't notice. Everything seems to happen magically. The emotions you feel during fireworks and parades. Everything is so well planned and so well executed. We always go into a depression when we come home to reality. I want to dine with cartoon characters and princesses. I want someone to drive me around. I miss the way they spoil me. I want to be surrounded by beauty and happiness. I just feel so good when I'm there.

I hear a lot of it has to do with how good it is from separating you from the outside world. There are few(if any) places within disney what you can physically see the outside world. Helps maintain the illusion

Disneyland in Anaheim, California is the "Happiest Place on Earth." not Walt Disney world.

Walt Disney world is the "Biggest Money Making Place on Earth".
