My 14 year old friend ran away from home and I'm able to talk to her online, but she won't tell me where shes staying. She's been running away for about 4-5 months now, and she really wants to go home, but she doesn't want to be placed in a foster home or a juvenile detention center, she's scared to what will happen to her. How can I convince her to go home, and what will happen to her? oh and I don't know why she ran away in the first place, but I do know shes seriously stressed.

So many kids are so angry and scared these days that it is hard to know what to say to get them to open up about the problems. The best advise that I have for you is to get her to call the Boys and Girls town Hotline numbers or seek out Youth hotlines in your area. The Girls and Boys Town National Hotline, 1-800-448-3000, is a 24-hour crisis. Being out on her own is dangerous to her and there are some that would take advantage of her.

Find out where she is and then call the police to pick her up. Her parents can file a missing report on her and have her thrown in Juvie for running away. Tell her that she needs to come home and that her parents miss her. If she still stays away she is at risk of becoming a teen prostitute or a junkie or getting killed because there is no reason for a teenage girl to be living on the streets. Maybe she and her family should go to counseling so they can work out any problems in the home.

Well, you have to make sure she knows that you are there for her and would do anything for her. Talk to her parents and make sure that they would keep her and tell your friend that if she comes home she will be in a safe warm home. The most important thing is that she knows how much you care about her. Try to help her by talking to her. She is obviously going through a really hard time right now so you have to be there for her.-

I'm not sure what exactly will happen to her but my best friend ran away to edmonton and was arrested there. After that she was let off the hook with the cops. But now she has a paroll officer, which she has to go see every wednesday.

It's a very hard situation, well try to call to her senses, she has go to understand that she won't be able to run forever.
Be supportive.
By the way I think you have to tell police that you able to contact her, so they can catch her before she or someone else hurt her...

keep asking where she is and if possible have ur mom or dad sit with you. save the conversations and then print them out and bring them to the cops. if she isnt sure where she is ask her to give general landmarks. that will help the cops. try to be resurring to her. she migght need to go somewhere but it wil be to help her not hurt her. tell her that you miss her and want her to come home

first find out why she ran away. then call the girls and boys town hotline. the number is 1-800-448-3000. it is a 24 hour hotline for teens. try to get your friend to call them too.

have her come to your house for a couple of days, have her hide out or something, that way you'd know where she was and that way you could talk and think things over.
I'll pray for you both!
