i aproached them the first 3 times knocking at the door(banging cause they could not here it over the music) and i asked them to please keep down the noise as it was waking my 2 year old and the banging of the music, screaming and yelling is keeping my husband and myself awake, they said no prob turned it down for all of 15 mins and then it went up again.i asked my husband to go over the third time he did asked them to turn it down and again it went up within 15 mins, anyway the next 3 times we resorted to calling the police, and the last time the police came, after they had warned then with next time they will recieve a fine, once the police had left, they all sat out front right next to our bedroom window taunting us to come out and fight(as they were all drunk)and mouthing off at us. things stopped after that, until recently, and last night it got bad again, i asked my husband to go over,as im 34 weeks preg, he said i dont want to look like the bad guy!! someone please help!!!

we bought this house and moved here from interstate, all the other neighbours we get along with, but these troublesome neighbours have lived here 25 years and also own home,( and the parents actually party hard with the teenage kids!)so basically all the other neighbours deal with it,as i assume it has been happening for years,or they are also at the party!
i mean my hubby and i are only 28 ourselves so we enjoy having friends over too but you would think that they would have some understanding of others! i thank you all so much for your comments,it has definately given some perspective on this situation,i dont feel so bad to call the police now,we just were not too sure how to deal with it.again all comments have been extremely helpful. : -)

Call the police. Under normal circumstance you can charge for public nuisance in a court and win this case based solely on those points. Depending on which country, laws and court systems differ. In Germany you would have no trouble :D.
I guess calling the police is one option(the best one for now), if you have a close family friend who is a lawyer, you can ask him/her about that if they practise in that field. This would be a scare tactic, not something to go through with.

Call the police again, and tell the police what occurred last time.
That is what you pay taxes for. Have the public servants handle this, and stay away from the weirdos.
And, make sure they are being unreasonable. Many people complain over stupid small stuff.
Seriously... Have the cops wait after they tell them, or call 911 if someone is at your door threatening violence.
Don't be a victim, don't be a hero... Just be a citizen.
And give your husband head!

Just put up or move!!!! this battle has been fought before many times. I personally think the more you let them know it bothers you the more they will do it. There are laws that supposed to protect against but they are usually not enforced. If it is an apartment building then letting them know at the office in writing can sometimes quite the situation but tends to cause problems because they will usually find out who complained. So get some good ear muffs and hang in there or move. People who do that to their neighbors have no respect for themselfs much less for anyone else. They are being bad not you.

I agree with calling the police for as long as it takes. Also, could you talk to your other neighbors and band together to take action? Sometimes if it's the same person complaining, I think it's taken less seriously than if many neighbors are all complaining about one unit. In our neighborhood there is a house that is rented, and the guys who are renting it think it's a college campus! They are always having parties, parking illegally (so we don't even get our mail delivered), waking up the children with car horns and motorcycles, etc. So now the neighbors have gotten together to do something about it. We all call the police, file complaints, and now the police are contacting the landlord and taking action against him. Good luck.

When they were drunk and sitting outside your window, you should have called the police back!
Keep calling the police, it really is your only alternative. If you have other neighbors, perhaps you can get them to call the police too. Also keep a written record of EVERY disturbance.
DON'T go over there or send your husband over again. You already tried that, it didn't work. And they could be dangerous.
Good luck.

Do not send your husbnd over to talk to them. People today kill people for walking over to talk. Call the police again, talk to the police, tell them what happened last time . Tell them you are afraid of the people next door. You may have to go down to the police station, and sign a complaint. Be very aware that people are dangerous these days. I don't know about face to face with trouble makers like them...could get bad....

Yes! I use to have loud people above me and other people who use to fight. I am moving! Talk to your landlord that's the best thing to do. We made a complain because the bad kids and the parents don't take care of them just let em run wild amd vandalize. So the landlord set a curfew because we weren't the only one. (*Most likely ask for a noise policy curfew*)!

take legal action if you can. tell the landlord and he don't do anything about it, file a report! you should not have to live in discomfort in a place that you pay your hard earned money for! i guess using the chain of command might work in this situation
