I bought it online, and it has dell markings but was made by nec the model number is a 5500a. if it is able to do lightscribe what software should i install on my computer?

If it doesn't say its light scribe capable then it probably isn't. If its a newer model then its possible but usually that's a great selling point for the manufacture so like I said if it doesn't say it is, then its probably not.
Update:
I just checked the features on it

and nowhere does it say it has lightscribe. Trust me, if it had it they would tell you.

I have lightscribe simple labeler. It's not fancy but it will write a title on your disc. It should have lightscribe written on there somewhere though.
