Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton Wednesday demanded a probe into recent maintenance closures of several US refineries, and questioned whether oil firms were guilty of price gouging.
"Consumers simply cannot continue to absorb the crippling cost of these rising gas prices," Clinton said.

Best thing Hillary has ever said. Our gas prices have nothing to do with OPEC. A look at the oil companies' profits for the last few years will tell you all you need to know. Bush has promised them they can go to $5 gallon by the time he leaves office. He is keeping his word.

Do some research. In Nigeria the rebels have blown up pipelines,sabotaged pumping stations, and kidnapped 150 foreign oil workers. This takes 600,000 barrels of oil off the table a day. In China there are 100,000 new cars on the street every week and one of the big selling cars there is a Buick. These are a few of the reasons the price of oil is up and Hillary will say anything to try to get into the White House

How will Hillary Clinton "control" the price of gasoline? Will she do it by encouraging oil companies to move their headquarters to the United Arab Emirates? After all, that is where Halliburton has relocated. The President cannot control the price of gasoline. Her probes will do nothing but make government more powerful.

America is ADDICTED to oil. Despite consumers not being about to "absorb the crippling cost" I still count a sizable number of Americans drive SUV (windows rolled up and air conditioner on of course).

Gas is INCREDIBLY cheap in the United States. My friend in Cyprus (200 miles from Saudi Arabia) pays $11 per gallon. I understand your frustrations, but our country must face the fact that we need to consume less oil. Not sacrifice, just show some common sense in fossil fuel consumption.

The truth is when it comes to high gas prices the democrats wont do anything to change it because their biggest political contributors monetarily is the big oil companies, so why would you say or do something that would cut off a large portion of your funding

so your telling me that you think that Hillary doesn't own anything associated with oil- all of them in congress own some part.

why don't you also mention the reason why refineries are being shut down- because they are old and unsafe- now tell everybody how long it takes to build and make operational new ones- years 2-3 to be exact. Why aren't we drilling our own oil- in the 80's why weren't more refineries being built- why wasn't prpoer maintenance being done on them- I reasearched all of this- there is a search called google use it - ignore the conspiracy theorists and read what congress at the time had to say and what the oil companies have to say- you'll be amazed.

Have you followed anything in the way of China and the amount of gas they are consuming. They are driving the cost of gas up terrifically.

I have to agree with Stephanie. I have fell for it before too. They say what YOU want to hear and talk about after they're elected but...nothing. Just like her healthcare plan when Bill was in office. On the other hand the only thing going for her now is a democratic congress. We can only hope.

Uh yeah I guess Hillary missed that day in business class when they talked about supply and demand.....I guess she just couldn't make it that day. Bottom line Dems will always blame repubs when stuff is going wrong and dems will take the credit when stuff is going right even when they had nothing to do with it.
