They were the original decendents of the first homo sapiens? You don't need to change much once you've reach the best form for your niche and surroundings.

Why wouldn't they survive? All human races are incredibly closely related. The differences between them are so minor that "race" doesn't really even exist in any real way. An African is as fully capable of survival as a European, an Asian, or anyone else.

Our hominid ancestors died out at least partially because we were so much better at the hominid thing than they were. We outcompeted them, by being smarter or better at communicating within our groups or in other ways. However, any two groups of humans taken from anywhere in the world are going to be pretty equal in terms of intelligence, communication, and anything else, really. The reason that Europeans did such a good job of exterminating other peoples is not because they were innately better. Rather, quirks of environment and geography shaped their technological advances. If we had gone back 10,000 years, took all the Europeans and stuck them in Africa, and put all the Africans in Europe, our history would probably have been much the same, but with skin color reversed.

Darker skin (higher amounts of melanin) is dominant over lighter skin (lower levels of melanin) genetically. The darker-skinned people evolved as they occupied hotter environments near the equator, and needed more melanin in their retinas and skin cells to protect them from harmful UV rays. Remember that there was the Ice Age, in which there was not much direct sunlight, therefore the bodies of those early humans did not require as much melanin.
Though, I do not really understand your full question, but I hope I answered at least half of it.

Non-human animals are less intelligent than humans, and the
humans have not killed all of them off (except in some cases,
such as the large land mammals of the early pleistocene).
We still have animals such as birds, rabbits, deer, antelope,
bears, etcetera. Why? Because humans are not after what they
are after; i.e. we do not compete with them. Europeans and east
asians do not desire to possess the african continent or the
african urban slums, therefore such places have not been
conquered.

Of course, the leftists desire to suppress the fact that some human
subspecies are more intelligent than others. That behavior is caused
by the desire to disrupt the fundamental logical truth that different
entities are not necessarily equivalent. That desire is a mental focus
of crude blind seeping oneness. That desire is also the cause of
political far-leftism.

Are you implying that black people are less equipped to survive than white people?

I don't think you understand evolution and natural selection, as they don't describe human skin colors.

Don't know about black people or any other race. but the theory of evolution brings up more questions then it answers.
And the answers keep changing as we go along.

note these links for a "new" theory.
