What is the most cost effective way to travel from Narita Airport to Tokyo?. I want to have a 2 day lay over in Narita but would like to travel to Tokyo.

If there is a train service to the city, that would be great. The last time I was in Tokyo, I took a bus service direct to the airport and it cost me US$30 for a 1 way trip.

Any directions related to the train service will be much appreciated.

There are multiple trains that run from Narita to Tokyo. You have two companies to choose from, either Keisei or JR. The fastest and most expensive is the Narita Express by JR...its also the most luxurious at that. (3000 yen which is about $25 and 1 hr travel time, departures every 30 to 60 mins) If time isn't a bother for you and want to save the most money...cheapest is the Keisei Limited Express (1000 Yen = bout $8 and 75 mins travel time, with departures every 20 mins). Note these are all one way fares. If you aren't carrying much luggage...The Keisei Limited Express and JR Sobu Lines are the best ways to go...because they are normal commuter trains, they don't have much room. If you have large luggage, or lots of goods in general...best upgrade to the Keisei Skyliner or Narita Express.

Note that Keisei trains in general terminate a Ueno, while JR trains can go to Tokyo, Shinagawa, and in the case of the Narita Express...all the way to Yokohama.

The train stations are located in the basement levels of either terminal and tickets/reservations can be bought then.

Enjoy your trip!

Edit: I nearly forgot this existed...right now there is a promotion between NEX (Narita Express) and Suica....right now for 3500 Yen ( $30) you can get a half priced one way ticket on the Narita Express to Tokyo, Shinjuku, or Yokohama (I'm not sure if they exclude other stops in the promotion) and a 1500 yen Suica passcard (actually 2000 yen once you include the 500 yen refundable deposit) that will let you buy gifts in certain places, and let you ride on almost all the transportation systems around Tokyo (incls JR lines in Tokyo, Tokyo Metro, Tokyo Monorail...etc) until your pass card runs out of money. Find out about it here: http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/suica-nex/index.html

Take Skyliner from Narita to Ueno and then take Ginza Line or take convey practice from Narita to suitable Tokyo Station and then take Ginza or Chiyoda Line. there are a number of different trains going to Ginza the two west and east. i do no longer think of if there's a trip service from Narita to Ginza coz vacationing expenses you a fortune in Japan and persons opt to return and forth by practice.

The cheapest way into town is by keisei narita line local train. It takes about 20 minutes longer than the Skyliner but costs half as much. You travel the exact same route as the Skyliner, but it's the milk run.

Yeah, buses are about $30 and trains are maybe $20. Those are the two cheapest ways to travel.

I would say subway, or express bus. It is easier to get to the bus stop from the baggage claim.
