My son has had this very low, quiet, raspy snore since he was born - he is now 7 and has had no health problems connected to snoring. The Pediatrician said that it is perfectly normal and to just pay attention that there are no changes i.e. struggling to breathe, congestion, or changes in the sound or increase in volume. If you are still uneasy, get a 2nd medical opinion (NOT on yahoo Q&A). Do you have a baby monitor?

Wow! I feel so badly for you. It's so heatrbreaking when your child is in pain, whether it's physical or emotional. I have a very well adjusted 10 month old who has slept through the night since she was only 6 weeks old, so all I can suggest is from my personal experience. First off, all those who answered before me are right about the bottle. The bottle is bad for his teeth and does not provide the nutrition a 21 month old needs. Wean him off of this as quickly as possible. Try using sippy cups at first, or if you're really brave, cold turkey. Make sure he is full before putting him to bed. My daughter sleeps better on a full stomache. Next, if possible, your toddler needs his own room. Sounds to me like you do too. You need a place in your house that is YOURS to recharge your batteries. He needs a place in the house that is HIS to assert his limited independence. Neither of you will benefit if you are exhausted all the time. Lastly, as creul as this may sound, there are times that a toddler needs to cry himself to sleep. He may not be having night terrors at all. It may seem that way, but he might just want to stay awake. You said that he cries for about 10 minutes, then crawls back into bed and goes back to sleep. Try letting him do this on his own without you in the room. Lastly, if all else fails, go to a doctor. There may be physical things wrong with your little one that is preventing him from getting a good night's sleep. Hope this helps, and good luck!

sleep apnea is a very delicate subject. My daughter does NOT suffer from it, but I do hear a little snore every now and then out of her. However, with a medical issue I would ALWAYS ask a medical doctor. If you feel you havent gotten the right answer, you have every right to go to another dr. and ask them. After all it's for you child! :)

my daughter does that, she has snored since birth. her doctor thinks she has narrow nasal passages. shes ok but has a hard tme if she gets a cold. i'm the same way and don't have sleep apnea. we're just keeping an eye on it. be sure to have a hospital grade nose sucking bulb around and always lay him n his back to sleep. you can also get a second opinion, you are entitled to do whatever you think is best for your child. if you are really worried you can get one of those crib pads that detects movement. if baby stops breathing or moving itll set off an alarm. normal deep sleep won't set off the alarm because breathing is movement. i think they're about $100

My son is 5 months and he has been snoring for a few months too. I noticed he usually does it when his head is turned to the side and he is slouched over in his car seat.

My son is almost 7 and snores since I can remember. He's fixin to get his tonsils taken out. they were real large and causing him this problem. Snoring kids in my experience have problems with bed wetting.

Dont worry. Most likely your little baby has a totally common sound coming out of it.. I used to call it the snurgle-gurgle.. If you are really concerned of course, call the doc. But in healthy full term babies.. it's one of many fun quirks to make your heart race that they don't tell you about.
