Back in March they had a class at the Middlesex Community College. Perhaps you could call and see if they are going to repeat it.

Java Journey
Do you love your coffee and want to understand it better? This fun and informative course will help you understand what is meant by different roasts, acidities, and grinds. It will address your confusion about the differences between an espresso, a cappuccino, a macchiato, and a latte. What is the best way to store coffee for the freshest brew? Should you buy your coffee ground, or whole-bean? What are the tools that can help you make your favorite coffee drink? What is a barista and how can you understand java-speak? The instructor is a former coffee-buyer and current owner of Ricardo's Cafe and Trattoria in downtown Lowell. This class is hosted by and will meet at Brewed Awakening, 61 Market Street, Lowell, MA. Also, why don't you try asking one of the Barista's at a Boston restaurant where h/she received training. You could either visit the restaurant at a slow time, or call.

Good luck.

It's not exactly Boston but we (Kitten Coffee) will be opening our dedicated Barista school in June this year in Manhattan. Free for our customers and relatively inexpensive for everyone else. Check out our site (www.kittencoffee.com) and feel free to call us! Good luck with a great career!
