I mean, yes, I've been in a tornado and ice storm and hail storm and severe fog... but of all the non-severe weather instances, humidity is the worst!

I'm from the American South but I totally disagree with your statement despite the fact we're world renowned for our humidity. I have a sinus condition and dryness (esp. when people smoke) that causes major problems for me. It's so bad sometimes that just being in a normal air conditioned building or car for a few hours has me so stuffed up with throbbing headaches that I have to run a humidifier for hours to get rid of the pain. And that's after I've drank plenty of water, taken certain types of medicine/herbs, and applied small amounts oils/vaseline in my ears/nose so I won't be too dry. I've even noticed certain kinds of scents like cinnamon are better than others. Lots of people have this problem by the way- I've known people from Florida who moved to other parts of the South that began to have this problem just because Florida is even more humid and it took a while for them to adjust. I also hate cold weather but part of the reason I hate the cold is because it has a drying effect too making everything "clamp" together. Now don't get me wrong- I'm not some kind of idiot: I do hate lots of heat and agree we do often have too much heat and humidity in the summer to be comfortable. I hate the feeling that you're never really clean if you run around enough and by "run around" I mean just walk a block or two or get in/out of the car enough. Unless you're old or something you tend to stay slightly damp all day and if you wear eyeglasses they sometimes fog up. I prefer Spring/Autumn much more.

Still, I love WARM humid climates in general and limit my grievance towards the summer intensity. Mosquitoes hardly ever bite me so I don't usually notice them. I read somewhere the South has a very high percentage of thunderstorms and I even like that too. You couldn't pay me to live in places that are either dry or cold as I would be in pain all the time with sinus pressure. On the other hand some Southerners have been advised to move out West because they were so plagued by allergies and what not. Everyone is different and people can say what they want about good schools, good pay, etc. - you gotta live in a climate suited for you or your life is pure hell.

One final thought about humidity though: I don't understand the obsession some Europeans have with saunas but then again, I live in one.

Yes, I agree, because we have this thing called heat index. It feels hotter than it really is. AND we have wind chill, which makes it feel like it's colder than it really is. We can't ever just have a freaking TEMPERATURE!!
