Strangely, I LOVE my name. It's Isadora and a LONG time ago, it was actually Isis, the Egyptian goddess, until it turned into Isadora after many years. I also love my name because I was named after Isadora Duncan the famous dancer, and surprisingly, I also have a passion for dancing....

Laurie- It means Crowned with Laurel, Laurel, Honor

I don't care for it for a few reasons:

1) It's plain Jane
2) People call me Laura or Lauren instead of Laurie
3) People often pronounce it Lori instead of LAURie (Laur rhyming with far)
4) It sounds nicknamish to me

One perk is that it is not heard very often. There was only one other Laurie in my HS and she was a couple grades below me. Lauren is way more popular.

Hate mine. Hate it, hate it. And I won't tell you what it is. Even my husband doesn't call me by name unless he has to.

I often wondered why my parents hated me so much as to give me such an unusual name. I got teased all my life. I still get teased for it.

I named my kids the most common names I could find, so that no one would tease them.

Florence is Latin and means prosperous or flowering. I go by Flo, threatening anyone who calls me "Florence" with death. I despise my name, and it will be decades before I am old enough to actually be a Florence. When confronted about this, however, my parents insist they loved me.

Carolina- I like it on most days.
Has different meanings:
Strong--My favorite meaning
Joy/Happiness--A sweet meaning
Warrior--Now that I like

I found those from different sites. I always knew it meant joy/happiness but different sites produced different meanings.

Yes I like my name. Its Valerie, and it means strong. Ironically, I don't feel very strong lately, but normally that suits me.
