I would have to assume, yes, he really was elected. There could have been ten, twenty, or four-hundred thousand people up for the position. Each of them could have been running on different platforms (rep, dem, indep, etc). The people had their choices to make, and the majority voted for Clinton. You could pretty much bet that there were a lot of democrats that voted for ol' big ears..... I mean, Perot.....as well. That election year saw more than just the 3 mentioned, it just so happens that those 3 made the "final cut" so to speak.

Clinton beat Bush by a majority of 5.6%. Perot garned nearly three times that many votes which probably would have gone to Bush had Perot not stood. After the Gulf War Bush enjoyed historical approval ratings. It's highly probable that he could have won the election if Perot hadn't stood.
In the States of California, Ohio, Washington and Illionis Perot's share of the votes exceeded Clinton's margin. Had he not achieved ballot access in these four states alone Bush would have attained 106 more electoral college votes, enough to win the Presidency.

No, people voted their conciences. Perot didn't "take away" anyone's vote. Nobody "owns" your vote.
Your little two-party paradigm is what keeps this country in the piss poor shape it's in.
By the way, Bush, Clinton, and Perot all sucked. I voted for Andre V. Marrou.

This from a party whose candidate didnt even GET a majority of the popular vote in 2000 and most likely didnt win Florida if all votes were actually counted.

He absolutely owes his first Presidential win to Ross Perot. Without him, he is still Governor of Yee-Ha-ville AK (at best).

Clinton never won a majority of the popular vote, but Presidents are not elected by the popular vote. He did win a majority of the electoral vote though.
Perot won less than 19% of the popular vote, hardly stealing half of the votes from Bush

I wouldn't know.
I voted for Clinton. And I don't regret that vote one bit. I also don't regret voting against GW Bush in 2000 and 2004. I'll bet there are people that can't say the same thing about their votes for GW. . .
