....and I don't mean "conservative", but also fiscally and socially authoritarian?

Is it just a full fledged out and out Fascist you want?

Because that is the extreme of the authoritarian right, you know.

Bush is a lot of things. He is an evil war mongering, war profiteer who suffers from such hubris he is willing to destroy our country rather than admit he is wrong But "liberal"? What an idiotic statement. He IS a fascist, you know.

Nah, most of the people who accuse Bush of being "too liberal" have a different understanding of what liberal and conservative mean. They think of the left as the authoritarians. (Actually, it kinda makes sense, because most of the authoritarians of our lifetime were socialists, so that's where the idea comes from).

Anyway, they also think he is like leftists because he's in favor of a big government, and most people who call themselves conservatives (not the neo-cons, but the old-time conservatives) believe in small government. They're mad at Bush for some of the same reasons you don't like him: wiretapping, undeclared wars, the Patriot Act, etc., but also think he spends like a drunken sailor, and puts too many regulations on people.

True conservative politicians want less government and fewer government regulations. It has traditionally been liberal politicians that have increased government regulation, taxes, and censorship (remember Al Gore and his wife Tipper fighting to add parental warnings on cd's in the '90's?). The Patriot act is the only so-called 'fascist' thing this administration has been responsible for and it hasn't resulted in the violation of any U.S. citizens rights. Newt Gingrich would be a great right wing President. He is a avid historian and a brilliant thinker. But not a authoritarian. To me it would seem that the far left want to be authoritarian because the right pushes individualism and self reliance. It is the left that wants to tell you that only the government can save you. That is authoritarian.

Is it really intellectually honest to take a question posted by ONE person (political point of view unknown) and try to make a sweeping generalization from it?

I think it shows the desperation of the Liberals to do this.

There are drama lovers on both sides of the fence, apparently.

they want a fascist, the repetition is working.. people have no sense of history and like all children don't want to hear about it because it will disrupt there little ego trips.. it really has potential to go in that direction I'm afraid...

check the guy out above me making a sweeping generalization about liberals making sweeping generalizations ....LOL

What is this craziness about President Bush and being liberal/conservative, not Republican/Democratic?? Did the liberals run out of things to get into a frenzy over or did they finally get bored with the same old same old and trying something new?? I think it's hilarious!

It is not a matter of being left or right, but simply a matter of trashing the U.S. Constitution and taking the sovereignty of the Republic of the U.S.A. out of the hands of the American people and placing it into the hands of foreign bankers and large corporations. Basically, there is no other way to describe Bush other than guilty of high treason, and a murderer that should be tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Bush liberal? Where do you get that?

As for the rest of your question, there is a very small segment of our U.S. populace that would just love to have a "king"/"dictator" but then those people are usually ignorant of what the United States is all about.

There is a difference between conservative philosophy and totalitarian philosophy. I suggest you study the differences before you make absurd comparisons.
