its a 1976 cenntinel querter, BUT>>> the drummer and the flame next to him are in gold. and the coin itself is silver, I am wondering if maybe it was a collecters coin. Ther is JLA very small under his arm where the mint i.d. usually is. Any info would be great.

The JLA stands for Jack L. Ahr who designed the reverse where the drummer boy is. The drummer and the flame were accented in a thin layer of gold. The coin was made into a novelty item as were a lot of things during 1976, our Bicentennial year. The coin has no collector value and is considered damaged by hard core coin collectors. It however still remains a great conversation piece. Put it away for future generations.

pcgs.com it sounds like a gold plating pen accented coin. those are usually never worth what they sell for and have no collector value. good luck.

Go to http://usmint.gov/index.cfm?flash=yes and contact them to ask directly. A lot of people could appraise it but you never know who will try to decieve you. It is better to go straight to the source. Maybe even email them a picture of the front and back.
