The Mourning Dove. It coo's from sunrise to sunset, and it has the saddest song, as it is mourning for it's lost love. It was my father's favorite bird because of it's lonely song. Have a wonderful weekend. Annie

Of course, like many others, I'd say the Mourning Dove.
But your question made me realize, I have only ever heard a small fraction of all the bird calls there are. And I'm a nature lover.

We know so very little about the planet we're on. By that I mean most of us have had very little direct experience with 'all there is'.

I'm not sure if it's sad, but the call of the mourning dove usually sends shivers down my spine.... I actually really enjoy the sound... reminds of my youth when I lived on the shores of a Great Lake.

Oh, it has to be the beautiful mourning dove. I love to listen to them. Here in Michigan they actually want to make them a game bird. Michigan sucks, you know. And I can say that because I've been a Michigander all of my life. It didn't always suck.

I had a chicken that flew away and he has been observed by human beings earlier, yet regrettably we've not seen him for almost 2 years now. you quite could of clipped his wings in spite of if he's a puppy. I clip my birds wings they do hate it, yet whilst a chicken needs to fly or gets scared it would have prevented him from flying. placed up signs and symptoms and bypass on your community chicken shop or puppy shop and placed up signs and symptoms there. with a bit of luck you come across him.

I believe the Screech owl is pretty sad sounding. Also, it will scare you to death if you are by yourself in the middle of the night!

It almost sounds like a Woman's Scream
