With the lady whose husband was so obsessed with her that he had to go to a clinic......and then he kept calling her from the clinic...etc...(why would this be possible?)....and then he escapes and goes back home.......and I guess the baby sitter left the kids all alone? o.k. why weren't the police more involved here? this guys seemed totally explosive from the beginning......like if he ever got the woman along he might do her great harm or worse.......and she seems like she might even go back to him in the previous episodes......I just don't get why the police could not arrest him earlier.......anyone have any ideas? he plants cameras in his home, checks his wifes phone messages and computer mail......

I actually think it's pretty sad, because there are alot of woman (and some men) who go through the torment of an abusive obsessive partner, and in some way, this show seems to capatalize on this. What is really going on here? How could this guy get away with all of this under the "watchful" eye of the institute, etc... and why can't the police keep this man away from his wife and kids.....and why the heck is dr. phil not just moving these people out.......to heck with sending her back to that "unsafe" situation and house........I just don't get it.......obsessive people like this "think" they have a "right" to/and "own" everything.....their wife, their house, their kids........he will never give up the house and let her live in peace....never

I don't know why someone this crazy isn't in a straight jacket somewhere. If I was his wife I'd get in the witness protection program asap! He looks like he's nuts. I don't think she is that stable either. I hope someone intervenes and takes those children before something really bad happens.

Men like this guy do exist - they are real. I have worked in child welfare and its more common than you think. In fact good morning america recently did a show on how the "home surveillance" market is booming.
The women do sometimes go back, for the situation to be that bad it has typically gradually gotten worse over years and years. In many cases alot of psychogical damage has been done to the women over the years to get them to the point that they do stay or return to this type of man. Many times the men cut off the women from the outside world, control the finances, threaten the children etc.
I commented to my sister no-one seemed to address w the mother that she would probably be better off staying w/ her parents but I guess we cant be sure of that.
The police cant arrest you if you are not reported and most of the time women in these cases wait years before doing that if they do it at all. Bugging your own family is crazy but not illegal.
He was in the clinic voluntarily which means he could pretty much do what he wants as far as making phone calls etc

Two of my close friends used to work for the Dr. Phil show, and it is a scripted program. They actually do find the people that go on from all over the country, and they are "real" people, not actors, but the situations that play out in each episode: specific questions, even some of the reactions, have been carefully crafted and planned out by producers ahead of time.

Sometimes the people they get to go on air also act over the top because they know they're on television.

Network 9 should be ashamed!! The whole footy culture is disgusting and barbaric. But 9 of course couldn't turn down a good chunk of money versus morality!! I was in media for 23 years and dealt a lot with nine over that time. We happily referred to them as the 'cigar smoking, cravat wearing, brandy swilling, golf playing, ex footy players. The media is almost as guilty as the players themselves, they have no conscience. We have boycotted Nine and will until the footy show is cancelled.

i think the entire show is staged... i think that they are prepared on what guestions they will be asked and dr phil has pretty much clued in on what the basic answer will be,... there is no way that any of these show like dr phil are just all spur of the moment answers.... i am sure the producers tell them to play it up some for the shock value...it's tv and about ratings and i just take it as that... most of the answers dr phil gives are basically just common sence answers... anyone with a brain is probally thinking the same thing he is saying... I heard he is a Dr. but not in therapy or whatever he is susposed to be.

Without paid actors the show would not be as interesting. Face it, not many people are interesting and those who are are sure not going to put thier business on national tv for the whole world to see. They probably have enough problems at home, without having to worry about the neighbors and friends also knowing about thier issues.

I agree with the first responder, about the "paid phonies", the BIGGEST one being, Dr. Phil himself...I REALLY can't believe people listen to that know-nothing, self-involved WINDBAG!!!

The Doctor Phil show is a load of rubbish. He has books about diets and yet he fat himself. He uses this type of stories to get rating up.

That all does seem a bit far fetched doesn't it? I think they
add a lot to make it more entertaining.
