Humans are here to stay. We are never worse than animals but may be cruel. There is nothing that will keep us from establishing dominance besides dieing. People never seem to need to exploit weakness. We are just superior. We easily attain a level where humans judge other animals. Our understanding and kindness shows in the end. We work to establish things that are beneficial to animals and not necessarily humans.

It depends what you mean, worse in the sense of the effect we have on our habitat and our prey species, cruelty and the like. Most likely. Just look what we are doing to our planet and how many anials we are driving towards extinction not only by active hunting but also by habitat destruction. Other predaotr-prey populations usually control themselves, to put it in a very simmpliefied way lets say less fish->less sealions as the population cannot be sustained at that level, sealions starve, less sealions->gradually more fish->gradually more sealions. People just just become more resourceful and continue to exploit the already declining population and shift their attention to other species, of course then youcould say we are "better" as we cope better with adverse conditions however in the long run this has a "worse" effect on the environment.
We are NOT better evolved but not any worse either. we have evolved for a certain style of life, we are more generalist and resourceful maybe but we would be rather useless in a deep sea habitat where deep sea fish flourish would we not? We do worse in certain habitats that other animals do well in but do better in other situations.
Whether we are smarter or not is a very similar situation, to a dolphin we may seem pretty dumb, I mean, hey we cannot even locate a struggling dying fish; intelligence is a very subjective thing because it is actually defined with ourselves in mind with no thought as to what might qualify as intelligent in other species, so we can do maths, that is nice but that is hardly going to help us in an environment that is not manipulated by us, for other animals this ability is no use whatsoever.
A lot of other things that are seen as "unique" to humas and are seen as a sign of intelligence are in fact not unique at all, tool use, language, even grammar, recognising oneself and each other, even going to war, they are no longer unique to us, there was a short but interesting article in the New Scientist a while ago, sadly can't find the whole article, may be able to edit it later when i dig up the magazine, basically it goes on about the 'intellectual arrogance' of the species Homo sapiens, here's a taster:

We're not unique, just at one end of the spectrum

It has long been thought that humans were the only animals to use weapons, but our chimp cousins have proved pretty handy with spears
THERE is an iconic scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey when a caveman takes up a bone and uses it as a weapon. It portrays a pivotal moment in human evolution, and while the film is fiction, it has long been believed that we are the only animals that use weapons.
Not any more: chimpanzees have been found using spears to hunt bushbabies (see "Savannah chimps get armed and dangerous"). It is the latest in a long list of supposedly unique human behaviours and abilities that have been discovered in other animals. Whales apparently have empathy, baboons and chimps can demonstrate abstract thought, chimps and elephants can recognise themselves, scrub jays have foresight and chimps a basic sense of morality, or justice.
What about language? Chimps and monkeys have an extensive "vocabulary" of calls, and whale song has a grammar with a hierarchical syntax.

In theory, humans are better than animals. we're more evolved and have a better state of mind than animals. we can think on our own, invent things, create new ways to do things, and etc. however, sometimes, our evolution gets the best of us and things such as war, a population crisis, drug abuse occur in humans, which makes us worse.

which animal, mammal, reptile, it makes a difference. I've never heard of any animals doing a drive by shooting, molesting children or doing drugs, how about you?

we are smarter (i am sure of!) but we are worst because we polute the planet, eat every animal we see by frying it up, and we cause wars all over the earth. Yeah, we are pretty bad!
