Most appropriately the answer is letter D! D-Day was the beginning of the British and Allied invasion of Western Europe during the Second World War and marked the beginning of the campaign for victory in Europe.

D. D-day (If your talking about Overlord) was the landing of the American, British, Canadian, French, and Polish Troops on the Northern Coast of France in the Normandy area. The landing created the northern half of the second part of the Vise that closed in on the Germans. D-day means the first day of an operation not the landings at Normandy. Thanks Press for messing up in Military Terminology.

***ADD ON*****
F-14D and others are correct that the D-day term was also used for the first day of a landing as well as the first day of an Operation (AKA Battle plan, like Operation Cobra) as well. Please public learn that you will confuses a WWII Vet when you say D-day. D-day dose not mean Normandy at all.

There were a lot of D-Days in World War Two, because it's the codename for the first day of an invasion. But I will assume that you are talking about the one that most people know. It's D.

since everyone else (particularly MG) has already answered this obvious question extensively, I'll just say that next time, specify which D-Day (since D-Day is used to denote the date of any amphibious landing operation). you could have been talking about Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Sicily, Guadalcanal (sp?), Incheon... the list goes on.

It is D of course and you know that.
What I am curious is why waste 5 points on such a foolish question.
