The Spanish conquest of the New World changed everything about the life of the indigenous people. The Aztec, Mayan, & Inca kingdoms were overthrown. The Spanish founded new countries like Mexico, Peru, Guatamala, etc. with a ruling class of Spanish whites on top. The Spanish language replaced the various native languages as the people were forced to speak Spanish. The Catholic religion replaced the various native religions. In many cases the Indians were reduced to slavery in the Spanish quest for gold. The Indians began dying from disease and oppression in great numbers. This led to the importing of black people from Africa to serve as slaves. White people and black people changed the racial makeup of the Americas.
On the other hand this led to the "Columbian Exchange" which introduced many new foods to both the "Old World" and the "New World" (the Americas). It also led to the "One World" we have today. I hope that this has been a help to you.

Latino is derived from someone who is Latin American decent. Latin America is a term created by Protestant North America as a way of defining Spanish and Portuguese settlements to the south because those settlements were Catholic. Latin is the official language of the Roman Catholic Church. Therefore, the called Catholic colonies were called Latin American. Many think it's because they speak Spanish, but if language was the reason, that would mean that the Italians are the true Latinos since Italian is the sister language to Latin- followed by other Latin languages such as French, Spanish, Portuguese, and even English! Italian however is the closest language to Latin. I hope this made sense.
