Definitely they needed to acknolwdge the danger for real and it could of been prevented, but they failed and the end result is painful to bare./

Somepeople just don't realize the danger especially when they have children and that would'nt be considered neglect, just no use of common sense.

If I lived fivstories up and there is no gate on the window I would've made sure that it could not be opened because of the dagerous risk.

They goofed and now they pay the price for it.

You cannot watch a child every second of everyday. It is impossible. Now I am not saying you should leave them for hours at a time. But how do we know what happened? Yes, children will get hurt, and this was a horrible worst case scenario of what CAN happen. But the question you must ask yourself is this, have you ever left your children unattended? Accidents happen. It's unfortunate and sad, but that is what happens, and will happen forever. But why has no one asked what happened to the child? Was he okay? Yes, the parents could have locked or closed the window, but maybe they were making dinner, or went to answer the door and didn't think to close the window. Or maybe just maybe they were watching him, maybe they saw him go up to the window and ran to him only to get there 2 seconds to late. Things like this can happen within the blink of an eye.

I do believe the parents were neglectful. If u live above the first floor there should definitely be guards on the windows or if not the window shouldnt be open to the point where he can fall out of it

the only thing that you can do is to watch them all of the time.

even playpen's are not totally safe. if you turn your back for a second. something bad WILL happen.

hell when i was a kid i managed to get through locked windows, and even managed to get myself into the heating ducts of the house by prying off a secured screen.

at least i was 12 before i fell off the roof of the house. and i know to this day that my parents could not have prevented that. god knows they tried, but i was determined to sit on the damn roof.

The same thing happend to Eric Claptons son,,,,which is the reason behind the Tears In Heaven song......
Part of me knows that this sort of thing can happen to even the best of parents, the other part says ,,,if you leave the kid alone in a room, for gods sake make sure its safe!
When my kids were little i had a wood heater, and even though it was screened, if i left the room , i took them with me....
But the parents would be suffering their own guilt and we just dont need to add to it do we?
