It's a street that runs East-West between State Street and the FDR Drive in lower Manhattan. It's best known as the heart of the New York City financial district.

Metaphorically speaking, Wall Street refers to the American financial services industry. That industry is now located on a network of computers and servers around the country. While New York remains Wall Street's center of gravity, especially for large transactions like mergers and acquisitions and initial public offerings of stock, the computer has allowed Wall Street to extend to any place where you can get an Internet connection.
