You might have fried it, but if it was just water you could be lucky! You've done all you can for now, so its just hope time... and a lesson learnt.

Some of the newer and better laptops have a sealed "Spill guard" under the keyboard. Leave it upside down and let it dry out good before you decide to check it. Take a deep breath tomorrow or so and plug in, power up, and hope for the best. Be happy it wasn't a soda you spilt on it......

Make sure there is no power to the board. Search on google or yahoo as to how to open that particular laptop's motherboard. Now without tilting it much try to dry the water. A cool breeze from a hairdryer can do the trick.
If the water got into any of the internal electronics though it may be toast. See if she has an accidental damage warranty on it, if so you'll be ok.
Good luck

Quickly: unplug all prephrials, mouse, printer, modem, and turn keyboard over, if not turned off, turn off now. While upside-down dab the keys with a towel. Leave to sit as long as possible, try to prevent mother from turning on computer until tommorow, might short out- then BIG trouble you are in. If you achieve all of this try to clean the keys with some kind of anti static wipe, to shine 'Em up

I think you have a good chance the computer is okay. BUT...let it dry out completely before you plug it back in again. Once it's dry, give it a shot and turn it on.

RUN RUN RUN!!!!! Ha, in basic terms kidding. First unplug it and take the battery out of it. turn it the different way up. do not use compressed air to blow it out, rather use a vaccuum in case you may to suck the water out. try this basically once you enable it air dry for some days. in case you employ compressed air it ought to blow water greater in inflicting greater harm. with a bit of luck this might artwork, if not, get a mac!

Own up to the mistake, and let your parents know what happened so they can give it a chance to dry out first
