The Clash.

They were the first in the original British Punk Scene (That's right all you emo fans, actual punk music, not this new crap) to actually have established and clear political views. They were very big on Socialism and many of their lyrics reflect that. In every song, all the instruments and musicians just work so well together that you just seperate it into the lyrics and the music, you're not isolating the specific instruments. They even supported a Central American socialist movement group which they named an album after (Sandinista!). Their lyrics are amazing, their music is broad and clear, and their genre of music is so diverse, taking influences from jazz, rock-a-billy, and many other genres that you may not expect to see in the punk scene. No two songs are even close to being the same, which gives them an edge over another favourite band of mine, the Ramones.

Iron Maiden. They are the bastard sons of metal. A band that managed to gain world-wide acceptance with little radio play and without songs that were written about sex, drugs, love and the endless party. Maiden has outlasted many of their peer groups that came up with them by avoiding the classic rock pitfalls. I give credit to all of them but Steve Harris gets big kudos for keeping the Beast alive all these years. Admired and often imitated but there is only one Iron Maiden.

Who would have known that a second-rate punk band from the East End of London would one day out shine the Beatles.

KISS

In 1976-77, I was listening to some Albums(remember those?), and he put this album on. Dressed to Kill. He put the song on that he was diggin' at the time, Rock Bottom, and it has been all Kiss since. Rock Bottom, to this day is still my favorite song, but favorite album tends to change. Rock And Roll Over is an awesome album, or 8-track, as is how I first got it. Alive II was my first album..

311 -- They are the most diverse group. Theyre not percisely just rock, but they have influences from everywhere. Reggae, dancehall, rap, funk. And the fact that they can take all those genres and mixed and blend them together so well is just amazing. If you listen to them, no two sons sound the same. They're always changing. Always evolving. Each member is so talented on thier own, but all together it's just plain music magic. They preform awesome live and have a thriving underground fanbase that can't be beat. They don't need radio hits to sell out shows. Most importantly, unlike the depressing, negitive music that he hear most today, they're positive. They bring so many people hope. They're about unity, love, peace. Things that should be encouraged. I could rattle on for hours, but I'm going to leave this here.

Led Zeppelin- I grew up listening to my parents Led Zeppelin albums Led Zeppelin IV and Physical Graffiti. I still enjoy their songs and listen to them often. I like that their music is a bluesy rock mix.

Beatles- My aunts, uncles, and my parents always played Beatles songs when the family would have a get together when I was a child; therefore, when I listen to the songs now I am reminded of those happy times. I also enjoy listening to the creative lyrics and the different styles of music they used. You can honestly say that no two songs sound alike.

Pink Floyd- I enjoyed listening to my parents Pink Floyd album Dark Side Of The Moon as a child. In later years I listened to more of their albums and enjoyed them also.

For me, it's The Who, hands down.

It offers the best of everything that is rock

Roger Daltrey-killer vocals, big hair, stage presence, big scream
Pete Townsend-master musician and lyricist, soulful one minute, angry the next
John Entwhistle-the technician, greatest bass man of the 20th century, big fat sound out of 4 little strings
Keith Moon-totally psycho drummer, played percussion like it was a lead instrument

The group ran the gamut from pop hit singles to the full-on musical experience(i.e. Tommy, Quadrophenia)

Led Zeppelin. Each member was the best at what they do. Their music takes you places you have never been before. When I listen to Battle of Evermore it's like I'm riding on Robert Plant's magical flying dragon over a magical castle far away. Acid also helps achieve that affect.

I love Family Force 5. They are a relatively new band out of Marietta Georgia. It's called alternative rock and ghettotech but the band itself calls their music "crunk rock" or "party rock." It is a mix of a whole bunch of styles.

Check out their myspace or their website!

I'm a harcore Motley Crue fan. I never see anything on them here. My mom loved them and so did my g-ma who is now dead. I didn't know she digged them when she was alive. Their hair, clothes, entire look rocked think. They weren't just a glam band. They were different. They totally dripped with sleaze, blood, and fire. They were the first really important band from LA during the 80s. Their badboy attitude drives me wild. I get a rush from listening to ther songs and I've mastered 4 of them only because I suffer from sinusitis. =). Hehe that was mean.

bands that would come after the crue-
pink floyd
metallica
la guns

The Beatles, guess you couldn't tell. they revolutionized music to what it is today. Before the Beatles Rock & roll wasn't a very great hit. They blew past Elvis because they wrote their own songs, & played instruments.

Rock on the Beatles!
