I heard an opinion saying that if you format your hardisk more than twice, it can damage it. Is it true?

not true.

You can format 100 times...it would not matter.

What does matter is bad sectors which can be caused by shaking a hard drive, wear and tear, long usuage

First time I've heard this, however, I think most of us would agree that formatting is the fix of last resort. It is a royal pain to have to reinstall everything. Why format unless you have major problems that can't be corrected more easily?
