You can have bleeding, but not an actual period. Women mistakanly call the bleeding a period when it's not. A period is the disposal of the unused egg and uterus lining. If the lining shed when you were pregnant, then that would be a miscarriage.

It is very possible and quite normal to have some 'bleeding' early in pregnancy. I had a very good friend who was 6 1/2 months pregnant before she found out because she was having normal 'periods' (she was heavy set which was why she didn't notice any weight gain or other symptoms). I have never understood how or why this happens, hopefully you will get some answers. Good luck and God bless

A period is the loss of the lining of the uterus when no conception takes place. When conception takes place, the embryo is attached to that lining and the hormone change prevents a period from occurring. There may be some spotting of blood but it is not a period.

Some women do have a "double uterus." (Very rare.) If implantation takes place in one, a period perhaps could occur in the other.

Yeah. That same thing happened to a friend of mine. She too was about 3 months pregnant when she found out. I have heard of a lot of women still getting their periods in the beginning of pregnancy. I am not sure why this happens, but I know it is not uncommon.

Yes it can happen. My mom had her period 12 weeks into her pregnancies. It does seems stange. And someone I know went to the hospital for what she thought was her appendix, when in actuality she was havign a baby. She had her period the whole time adn she didnt gain much weight, she had no signs or symptoms. She said that was the biggest shock of her life. Every pregnancy is different. But dont stress if it happens to you, it can happen!!!
