Also what would you name a new country and what kind of flag will it have as well what kind of shape would you draw it.

Since there is no requirements for width, you can make it as skinny as you wish. You could just use a 500-mile-wide stretch from the Florida Keys to Maine (perhaps a bit of Canada) and call it good.

As for requirements for your nation, you will need the following:
1. Population.
2. Fresh Water.
3. Food supply or enough raw/manufactured goods to trade for food.
4. System of government.
5. Energy sources.
6. Trade (economy) both internal and international.

A simple break down of the economy should go something like this (feel free to modify how you see fit) Raw materials being gathered and refined should constitute about a third of your ecconomy. Food production should constitute about another third. One fourth of the economy would be the transporting and retailing of the first two thirds. The remainder should be made up of government work, health care, and entertainments.

For your new nation's motto, try TANSTAAFL (There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch). In other words, you expect your citizens to work, pay taxes and help defend your country. For their taxes, your citizens will expect some (if not all, depending on the tax rate)of the following: Law & Order, Transportation Routes, Education, Health Care, Defense, and Sanitation.

Hope that helps some.

A degree of latitude is about 69.5 miles. To include 3 lines of latitude you only need a little over 20 degrees of latitude. This means that your country must be at least 1400 miles long from north to south. If there is no requirement of longitude, it can be a long skinny country. It could start just below the equator, and extend to just above the 20 degree line of latitude, or it could start at any other latitude line and extend north or south for 20 degrees. It doesn't matter, but it will be 1400 miles long. Countries come in all kinds of shapes. You can just draw a blob and call it a country. Draw three parallel lines across a sheet of paper, equally spaced. Call them 0, 10, and 20 degree latitude lines, or whatever you like. Draw a blob that crosses all three lines. Name it after yourself. (You can't call it Sahara because that is taken). Try Saharia You will have to use your imagination for the flag.
