To find the GFC of any two numbers you can do the following
Take 50 and 7 and then express it as a fraction
50/7 = 7 1/7
Now you have to find the GFC of 7 and 1
7/1 =7 ---so the GFC of 50 and 7 is 1
But if you were told the same problem with the following numbers 231 and 105
231/105 =2 21/105
Now find the GFC of 105 and 21
105/21 = 5 --so the GFC of 231 and 105 is 21

7 is a prime number.
50 = 2*25 = 2*5*5
Since these 2 numbers have no prime factor
in common, their gcf is 1.
We also say that 7 and 50 are relatively prime to each other.
