I pose a question stating simply that if the top 5% controls 90% of the wealth shouldn't they pay 90% of the tax's..

and more than half off the answers said... no they shouldn't, they already do, or "yea that's great, penalize the go getters in our society" ?????????????

amazing that the ultra wealthy, who have by in large inherited that wealth, (despite what Rush(the drug addict) Limbaugh tells you), have been able to get you all on board?.. save the sports and entertainment stars, corporate barons begin from wealth, and the last 6 years has been a windfall for them, thanks to the mindless throngs that support the blatant evisceration of the middle class?
yours are the backs that these bastards stand on ... and you sit and re-spin the days hate radio talking points and wine constantly about the "Liberals"
are you totally clueless, or just so busy trying to climb that you don't care????

It's not amazing that the ultra wealthy have undermined the progressive system of taxation and that they have conducted an all out propaganda war to convince middle and working class voters that is unjust, unfair or even immoral for the rich to pay more.

The excellent rationale for the progressive system of taxation is this. The wealthy would not have been able to amass or keep their wealth if it were not for the infrastructure of the US which is paid for by taxes. This includes roads, airports, water supplies, the military, a justice system to enforce contracts and property rights, regulation of banking and financial markets and a public school system to educate workers. The wealthy receive more benefits from the infrastructure, and it is fair for them to pay more for it.

"Consider Bill Gates. He started Microsoft as a college dropout and has become the world's richest person. Though he has undoubtedly benefited from his unusual intelligence and business acumen, he could not have created or sustained his personal wealth without the common wealth. The legal system protected Microsoft's intellectual property and contracts. The tax-supported financial infrastructure enabled him to access capital markets and trade his stock in a market in which investors have confidence. He built his company with many employees educated in public schools and universities. Tax-funded research helped develop computer science and the internet. Trade laws negotiated and enforced by the government protect his ability to sell his products abroad. These are but a few of the ways in which Mr. Gates' accumulation of wealth was empowered by the common wealth and by taxation."

I see what you're saying, however, I'm just a "primitive Christian" thinker. Granted, I have thoughts about other "AMAZING thinkers" such as; Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, and Gregor Mendel. Thinking about Einstein; I thought he recognized the impossibility of a non-created universe and was know for saying, "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind"?

Our system is a work in progress and hopefully it will improve. The good thing is it is still one person, one vote. So if the 90% would rally together, it could actually change one day. Thanks for a good question.
