What material needs to be in between the casting tape and the skin itself?
(Sock? Shirt sleeve?)
I don't have a broken bone, just an experiment for myself and a few days.

Thanks

I plan on using casting tape, not plaster. Also, any ideas for getting it off? I should probably figure out how I plan to remove it before just throwing a cast on there and not being able to take it off

A layer of batting, cotton fluff is laid on the skin. It soaks off the moiosture from the plaster application. But when I cast a face for masks or a pregnant lady belly which is getting really popular, I use a petroleum jelly on the skin.
I t acts as a mold release, so the molld slips off without pulling at the skin and a second surprise, it can be a hot oil treatment for the skin as the plaster generates heat as it sets up.
But to see how it is done, check this out

Outstanding link from Carol H on the subject !

Yes, use a sock and or batting !!

TEST on a SMALL area first, without "enclosing" the limb:

I knew a guy who was playing around with the same thing in high-school... the HEAT of the setting plaster gave him 2nd degree burns from ankle to upper-thigh !! NOT to mention the fact he lost almost ALL the hair too !!
