It isn't hype at all. They could have torn Ft. Dix apart with their automatic weapons. I spent time at Ft. Dix and it is not defended well at all. Most Army bases are only semi-defended. We seem to be very relaxed with our borders and bases. This goes for our bases in Germany as well. I used to enter as a civilian merely by showing my driver's license.

Not everybody on an army base is armed. Not too mention those soldiers probably wouldn't be expecting to be fired upon here in the US.
I bet if they carried out thier attack you'd have some other smart-alec remark. Be part of the solution or shut up.

It doesn't matter if they planned to use butter knives. Their stupidity isn't an excuse for the attack. Anyway, it was also RPG's, and any attack like that would have killed soldiers. I'm sure they knew it would be a suicide mission, but it was about attacking the US on US soil for attention for their ideology. So yes, it was a real threat.

It's government propaganda designed to LOOK like a real threat. But if you peel apart what's known so far, you'd see that there are too many incongruities with the idea that six illegal immigrants and one pizza-delivery guy could REALLY take out a military base--and kill 100s of soldiers--using automatic weapons.

They would have been caught/killed but many innocents could have died in the process. It wasn't a battle with a 'winner', they probably expected to be killed, inflicting casualties was all they cared about. What is the hype? 9/11 did't destroy America and we got over it, but that deosn't mean it wasn't a horrible thing! What is your point here?

The majority of soldiers in the US do not go about their base armed and ready. They could have killed quite a number of people.

I doubt they would have been able to pull it off.
they weren't very bright and the base had a lot of security

If even one soldier was killed it would have been a victory for these guys. They obviously understood they would have never made it out alive. Your type are more dangerous than terrorist.
