Horsemanship?
Do you know what it was that made Katrina Van Tassel so amazingly beautiful? She was part indian. From a line of the Grand Secham of the Algonquin indians. Chief Wyandanch.
If I recall correctly the actual name is Van Texel. Katrina did marry her Brom, Hendrick Abraham Lent, and they are buried near each other.
Katrina had a son who was so dark they called him Indian Brom.
Being religious people, Brom ( a contraction of Abraham) was a very popular name.
Wyandanch had one daughter. Cantoneras. She fell for a nice boy. Cornelius Jansen. They had a son who walked two paths. Both indian and dutch. Jan Cornelius. He married Anntje Alberts had 8 children. One was Katrina. They moved to sleepy hollow.
The rest is history...
The Headless Horseman story is a legend. However, it should be known that Wyandanch's favorite way of dispatching his enemies was beheading. Then he'd give the heads as a gift to his friend Lyon Gardener.
