Well, if you want a name that is common now, as well as back then, can't go wrong with Jack, I don't think, as it would have associations like Jack the ripper.....I dunno, what country does the vampire live in, if in the US, or England, Jack would be good, if another country, you may need to find something with equvalent connotations but more ethnic....
