yes, your body looses it's ability to loose heat, and your skin looses it's ability to absorb oxygen.

most actors that appear to be coverec in any type of paint, usually have a large area on their back that is not covered. as well as patches under the arms and on the backs of the legs that are not covered.

for short ammounts of time it is ok, but anything longet than about 15 minutes can be fatal.

Get nontoxic paint, and don't leave it on too long. You could do it for a photo shoot, with nontoxic gold spray paint. You may want to check to see if you have to first coat your skin with something, so it can keep the pores open.
Nontoxic paint rinses off with warm water, and you don't need paint remover. (Be sure to try not to inhale too much fumes applying it)

It doesn't have to be gold, specifically, any paint, if applied over the entire skin surface, will make you very ill, people don't realize what an important organ the skin is, and how essential it is to allow toxins to leave us through sweat, etc, or how much the skin helps us to breathe....

Actually back in the Renaissance one of those damn popes had this big "look at me I'm rich" celebrations, they painted a kid gold, and he died. My suspicion is that it was lead-based, or it didn't allow him to sweat.

paint you forearm or shin and see how uncomfortable it feels. Now multiply that by your entire body and it should give you an idea of how to answer your own question without harming yourself.
