He broke the law. However, he did it knowingly, and I think he was prepared to accept the consequences.

If Moore were prosecuted, the U.S. would be portrayed as fascist and repressive, rejecting all viewpoints except those of the right wing, and discouraging others. Which is not far from the truth.

If he were fined, it would be more political dynamite to be used in the films. By law he probably should be fined, I believe the figure quoted was 75k, which he can well afford. Either way, he makes his point. Checkmate. That is why people are so furious. They want to portray him as a dumb pudding, but he outsmarted a lot of high-powered officials with this stunt. Let them come. Whatever they do, he wins.

Moore is a political agitator, not a documentary filmmaker. How can anyone doubt that? Even so, he makes some very illuminating points, my favorite being "Bowling's" assertion that it is America's culture of fear rather than guns that result in all the shootings.

I have also caught him stretching the facts to make his points, which irritates me because he really doesn't need to do that. And because of that, I am not a fan. But he is passionate, he cares about his work. Why else would he be willing to endure so much hate and vitriol? Does anyone see any courage in that at all?

This man has been smeared relentlessly by the GOP propaganda machine for daring to show genuine anger and an opposing view.

Can you spell "Two Minutes Hate?" Goldstein, baa-aaaa. You almost expect people to throw things at Moore's picture.

Humanist..please once again you are far to intelligent to fall prey to this...
Moore traveled to Cuba without government permission...a law pushed for and signed by JFK.

You lack of knowledge of Cuba is rather scary too. Health care in Cuba is only good for the wealthy "Party members". The average citizen has third world health care. ( sorry, but that is a FACT)

By your analysis you would have to then state that this country has no health insurance issues as every member of congress has all the coverage they need.

It is all politics. The NY Yankees did the same thing. All they got was a fine. That is probably all Moore will get too. The free advertising for his documentary is a bonus.

He took people to Cuba without the proper permits. I challenge you to post information that will prove that the Cuban Health Service is superior to the care in the US. Do you see people from Canada and England seeking care in Cuba? The answer is no.

Edit-my opinion, you are a domestic terrorist.

it's been that way for a while... since the whole cold war, cuba issues... you have to have permission and a good reason to go, basically

I aways thought it's been a bit silly, especially since the fall of the USSR... but hey, it's hard to get laws off the books sometimes...
