I totally agree with you. Life is very precious and unless a person has been raped or the unborn child has some kind of major issues I believe every child has the right to live.

I was adopted and I am grateful my birth mother did not chose to destroy me.

I'm pro choice. I wouldn't say I'm "in favour" of it. Don't you think that sounds a bit harsh?
I'm in Ireland and it's illegal. I'm constantly told I'm insane, but I don't think anyone who says that really knows what they're talking about. The Catholic Church doesn't hold as much sway here as it used to, but it's influence is still very much a part of politics and society.
You can say all you like about "it's not the child's fault!" but I think in certain circumstances, it is acceptable. The only way you can have an abortion in this country is if there is a risk of the mother or the child dying. The only thing you can do otherwise (be you a rape victim or a promiscuous 12 year old) is go abroad. The law here is ridiculously outdated.

I am very strongly pro-choice. Abortions do not only occur outside marriage, many married couples abort their pregnancy for numerous reasons, so we would still be having this conversation.

Abortion is often talked about in the rightwing press as lazy contraception, this is just not the case. The great majority of women who abort their pregnancy do so with much thought and not on a whim.

Women carry a pregnancy to term, give birth and then usually have to raise the child. Abortion is the right choice for women who choose it for so many reasons and the background to these decisions is never simple. Rape, failed contraception, inability to care for the child, complications that would result in death for the chold and/or mother to name just a few.

When will society stop dictating what women can do and when they should do it. I will always support a woman's right to choose, not society's or religion's presumed right to dictate.

The only restriction I would apply is that abortion is not permitted after the preganancy becomes viable, e.g. number of weeks gestation at which the child would survive, unless in extreme circumstances, such as late acknowledgement of pregnancy after rape or risk of death is pregnancy is carried to term.

OK, mini rant over, sorry about that.

I used to be totally against but now I think sometimes people make really bad mistakes!!
I aborted what would have been my 3rd child which would have been born when my sons were 3 and 2 because:
a. we didn't have enough room/money b. I didn't believe i would've been able to give 3 very small children all the attention they need/keep them under control etc etc.
I was only 5 weeks pregnant and have learnt from my mistake and would never ever ever have one again!!
I do know people who have had more than one abortion and it makes me sick that some people seem to use them as an extra form of contraception!!
There-fore to answer the question i'm a bit of both-i'd much rather a child be aborted early on (12 weeks is as late as i agree with apart from for serious medical reasons) than unwanted and resented!!

Definitely in favor of abortion...even did a paper on it in college. Its noone's business if someone chooses to have an abortion. Until you have walked in another's shoes, who are we to judge why a woman chooses that option. This is not an issue to be decided by any government arm or any person other than the mother to be. And dont quote me any medical reasons because those same medical reasons have nothing to do with anyone other than the mother to be as well. Im sure shes aware of all the risks and mental anguish that can happen...she doesnt need any one else adding to her dilemma.

Pro choice

I'm not in favor of it, but I'm pro-choice. I don't think it is a smart idea to ban abortion-- it will only cause people to attempt to do it themselves illegally. Also, it is somewhat idiotic to only allow abortions for rape victims since the majority of rape cases go unreported. I believe that the woman should be able to make the choice she thinks to be best, especially considering that it is her body that would have to go through the pregnancy.

Nobody is in favor of abortion. The question is should abortion be legal or illegal? I am in favor of it remaining legal. We have enough laws making enough things illegal already. I'm not for more big government. More important, Liberty dictates that a woman should not be forced to carry something inside her body for 9 months & endure labor or surgery to get it out. It's her body, it's her right.

I am pro choice. I believe if you don't want an abortion, you shouldn't have one. I believe if you decide that an abortion is the right answer for you, then you should have that option.

I wouldn't dream of dictating such a personal decision.
