My father-in-law's laptop is running Vista - it can see our Network and says the signal strength is very good, but when we open Explorer it says that it isn't connected.

HOW DO WE FIX THIS PROBLEM??

Thanks!

My fiance said it said something about our router isn't answering back in time as if there is interferrence, what does that mean? Our other laptop using XP is working fine and was off prior to it displaying those messages.

No, we don't have security on it, it is open to anyone to use it.

I have done what Michael suggested, turned off everything and restarted... just waiting to hear the verdict if that worked.

and IT WORKED!!! Thanks a million!!!

Welcome to windows vista!!! Sucks doesn't it?

I had same thing - turn all computers off, turn them back on - it will then work

You will likely have to install some new drivers.

However, you also have to keep in mind that Microsoft wants to move away from their original GUI style (hence Vista). Unfortunately, that means Vista does not play well with others. (Just like a computer running 95 or 98 can connect with and do anything it wants to an XP (and a 2000) networked machine, and the "new" OS will not even see the connected computer!)

if all other internet connections are working, than theres something wrong with you internet explorer. You do have a wireless card, right?

Basically if your having internet problems, when it says your connected, it's something you've done.

ush, check your connections, make sure eveything is plugged in, or you need a network adapter that plugs into your PCI slot.
see whats wrong with it, ask some one to help.
