i think there probably would be problems of a societal nature. Strange as it seems - the Bible helps a lot of people get by in life whether or not they acknowledge it's a fable. I think the basic teachings of the ten commandments sets a good precedence for many and while i recognize that I personally do not need it to live by, I think many others do.

think about this for a second. let's say that you wrote a book and in this book, you created a whole world of people... they lived in the OOF universe. and in this story, half of your characters believed in the writer and the other half didn't believe in the writer. even if the characters that believed in the writer changed their minds and started to worship the anti-writer, the writer would still exist and would continue to write books regardless of what the characters believed. so... if god does exist and if god granted you free will to choose whether or not you believe in the existence of god, if everyone didn't believe in god, the world would survive. because morality and belief would carry on as it has before christianity and before taoism and before buddhism and all that stuff...

Since the bible says God created this world that was without form. Also that God created the first man and woman. And without God's mercy and grace we all perish. We all have been born into sin and it's our responsibility to ask God to give us an understanding of who He is and what His love is really about for our lives. If we pray and ask God of these understandings I'm confident that He will reveal them to all who have a desire to know Him better and in a more intimate way. God is with us and for us and He predestined our lives and has a plan and purpose for everyone.

I think you can believe in right or wrong without believing in God.
I think having a strong sense of personal integrity and social conscience is a requirement. Otherwise, I'm fencing in my property with razor wire, and getting some bigger guns.
