ok first you have to get common denominator.

1. 4z(z+1)/(z-4)(z+1) + (z+4)(z+1)/(z-4)(z+1)
2. (4z^2+4z)/(z-4)(z+1) + (z^2+5z+4)/(z-4)(z+1)
3. Collect Like Terms (5z^2+9z+4)/(z-4)(z+1)
4. Factor the numerator (z+1)(5z+4)/(z-4)(z+1)
5. Cancel out like terms and you end up with

(5z+4)/(z-4)

use parenthesis for ur question, man

anyhow multiple the entire equation by (z-4)(z+1)

this gives you 4z(z+1) + (z+4)(z-4)

then just multiply and add similar parts

4z / z-4 +z+4/z+1

lcd would be z-4 z+1=z^2-3z-4

4z(z+1)+z+4(z-4)
4z^2+4+z+4z-16

4z^2+5z-12/z^2-3z-4
